Re-watching: Kick-Ass

I just bought this on DVD, so I thought I’d watch it again and see if it held up.   It was better than I remembered.  It’s really an entertaining film, all the social commentary aside.  I love the way the story evolves – it’s one of those rare films where you don’t know pretty much where it’s going after the first fifteen minutes. I enjoyed how it goes from goofy/geeky to serious to disturbing.  I’m still not sure about the way the violence is handled, but I don’t think I’m supposed to be comfortable with it.  Chloe Moretz has been the flavor of the month since this came out, but nothing she’s done comes close to her performance here.

Here’s my original review.
