21. Gangs of New York
Martin Scorsese has made a lot of great movies over the years, and “Gangs of New York” is right there amongst them. This stark, exciting tale of violence and revenge in Civil War -era New York contains perhaps the strongest supporting performance of the decade from Daniel Day-Lewis — even his character in “There Will Be Blood” seems like a shadow of Bill the Butcher – as well as certainly the best performance ever squeezed out of Cameron Diaz. Leonardo DiCaprio’s not bad, either.
