New on DVD this week:
State of Play
Rusell Crowe’s a DC journalist trying to get to the bottom of a Ben Affleck sex scandal (aren’t we all?)

Do they really look like they could've been college roommates?
Recommended
- if you’re a big fan of political thrillers
- if you work, or once worked, for a newspaper, or have a degree in journalism.
- if “All the President’s Men” is your all-time favorite movie.
Not Recommended
- if you’re going to be disappointed by the lack of car chases and gunfights in this so-called “thriller.” Really, it’s pretty weak in the sweaty palms department.
- if you write a political blog.
- if you’re wondering what the title means (I have no idea.)
Sugar

closely observed, heartfelt film about the pursuit of the American Dream, filtered through the lens of baseball. Click here for review.

Earth – Disney launches a new series of documentaries, disneynature, and its flagship is… a rehashed Discovery Channel series? Come on, Mickey. You can do better than that.
.
The Betrayal – Nerakhoon – Many critics are calling this the best documentary of the year. Story of a Laotian family’s immigration to America.
.
Good Dick -- Unbearably quirky indie flick about a video store employee and the quirky girl with the backstory he relentlessly flirts with.
.
Tennessee – Mariah Carey is a waitress who dreams of being a singer. (What – did you think she’d dream of being President?) Personally, I’ll wait for the sequel – about the singer who dreams of being an actress playing a waitress who dreams of being a singer.
