DVD Roundup

Movies available on DVD this week:

A Thousand Years of Good Prayers – “Joy Luck Club” director Wayne Wang returns with another story about generation and culture gaps.   I was hoping to get to this one this week, but the Memorial Day mail stoppage kept that from happening.  Look for a review here next week.

Forever Strong - Heartwarming underdog, inspired by a true story rugby film directed by Ryan Little, who gets his funding from the LDS church.   Read into that as much or as little as you want to.

New in Town –  Renee Zellwiger and Harry Connick, Jr.  rehash the old  heartless-girl-moves-to-the-country-finds-her-heart (and a boy) routine.   By all accounts, as generic as it gets.

Powder Blue – Looks like it’s the week for generic, heartwarming, sentimental crappola.   This one’s set on Christmas Eve and is about four strangers who cross paths by chance and learn about love and life from each other.
