Movies new on DVD this week –
Of Time and the City – See review below.
Taken – Liam Neeson does his best Charles Bronson impression – straightforward, blunt, and violent. Lacks the cleverness or showiness of most recent action flicks (I keep coming back the “Bourne” movies as the current standard in action) which means it’s boring at times and doesn’t add up to much in the end, but hey, if you like seeing heads get kicked in, here’s your ticket.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans – Third in the series about machine-gun-toting vampires and their battle against the werewolves. I stopped watching after the first, and still can’t believe Michael Sheen is still making these. If you buy your clothes at Spencer’s, you will like this movie.
Passengers – Anne Hathaway plays a therapist called in to counsel survivors of a plane crash. The passengers start disappearing, as done all semblance of plausibility or credibility. Maybe they called her in because she would believe anything they told her.
O Jerusalem – Horribly written and overly sentimental historical drama about the re-establishment of Israel in 1948.
