DVD Roundup

Movies newly available on DVD this week:

Australia – Baz Luhrmann’s sweeping drama about the Land Down Under is about an hour longer than it needs to be, but does some things well, others not so much.  Starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.

Ashes of Time Redux –  Wong Kar Wai’s overly artsy, overly talky, underly kick/choppy Kung Fu picture.

I’ve Loved You So Long – Kristin Scott Thomas turns in the performance of her career as a woman fresh out of prison for murdering her six year old son.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua – For those of you who miss the Taco Bell commercials.

Lake City – Dave Matthews – yes, that Dave Matthews – tries to add acting to his repertoire in this southern family/crime drama, alongside Sissy Spacek and Keith Carradine.   The results are mixed, at best.
